I walk up to the old stone door,
I wrench open the old gate,
Now knowing what was in store.
And then I find that I am late.

Inside were dozens of old things,
I recoil from a stuffed Griffin,
From skeletons to something that sings.
And find myself told that I’m unbidden.

I whirl around, seeing an old man standing there.
As it turned out, he was the caretaker,
I wonder to myself, “Why would this old man care?”
And I was just a troublemaker.

“So sorry, sir,” I said, quite scared.
“I don’t mean to intrude,” I say, backing away,
And lickity-split, I ran from that old neighborhood.
“Sorry, sir, but I’ll come back, some other day!”

King Akhenaton ruled Egypt unfairly. He wanted the people to only worship the god Aton. Born Amenhotep, King Akhenaton almost succeeded. He had moved the capital of Egypt from Thebes, a city well associated with Amun, to a new city called Amarna that Akhenaton had built, which was then associated with Aton. The priests of Amun and other gods were growing rebellious, and decided they would not heed Akhenaton's rules and warnings. Soon, Akhenaton had lost control of Egypt. When Akhenaton was put out of power, his successorwas Neferneferuaten, and later, his son, a very well known pharaoh today, King Tutankhamun, who restored the normal way of worship to the New Kingdom of Egypt.

Pizza

I have had a request to write a poem about pizza making someone barf. Interesting, but not unreasonable.
And, of course, this belongs to Not Applicable.

Pizza

'Tis a greasy blob of scum,
Smothered in sauce and drowned in cheese.
Indeed, it upsets my tum,
Grossing me out from my head to my knees.

'Twas not as bad as peanuts, no,
Though pizza is my downfall.
My insides writhe from head to toe,
Yes, pizza is the worst of them all.

A bucket of sauce, and a gallon of cheese,
All baked together in a calorie-rich crust.
Lots of salt, tons of fat, and don't forget the grease!
The poor little children eating it, is that really just?
